The Lumberton Historical Museum will tell the stories of the people who tamed the Big Thicket and helped grow the town of Lumberton.

It will offer exhibits and educational opportunities for children and adults about the history and culture of our community and this place we call home.

"From the Bayou to the Creek"

Our motto, coined by our own

Dr. Betty Iles.

Join us as we learn about the early settlements, neighborhoods and towns, between Pine Island Bayou to the south, and Village Creek to the north, that grew into today's community of Lumberton.

The Lumberton Historical Museum will be located in the new Multi-Purpose Center, built next to Lumberton City Hall in 2024.

The Museum is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization and is supported by donations and grants. These funds go directly to expenses such as rent, insurance, and furnishings, as well as developing and building exhibits.

We appreciate your support, which will help keep the Museum open and admission-fee free to everyone.

We hope you come and visit us when we open!
